The popularity of the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL®) in France is set to increase further following a successful series of French-language training courses conducted by leading software supplier Axios Systems.
Almost 100 consultants have attended the three-day ITIL® foundation courses since they were launched in July. At the end of the sessions delegates sit an examination to gain the EXIN certificate - vital if they are to progress further in the field.
French organisations have tended to lag behind their counterparts in some other European countries, notably the Netherlands and the UK, in their knowledge and use of ITIL®, a set of internationally accepted guidelines for Best Practice in IT Service Management, said Francis Ronez, Director for France of Axios Systems (www.axiossystems.com) which supplies the award-winning assyst solution.
“We are keen to educate public and private sector organisations in France about the benefits of ITIL®,” he commented. “Awareness of it is spreading and we are pleased to be making our contribution. Apart from the underlying principles and theories we can add practical insights and advice from our own extensive experience.”
Axios Systems has a number of offices in Europe, North America and Australia but is currently only offering ITIL® training courses in France.
Ronez, who has played a leading role in the creation of the new French chapter of the IT Service Management Forum (itSMF), said courses were restricted to one organisation at a time so competitors did not need to be concerned about sharing or divulging information. A maximum of eight delegates can take part in the seminars which are conducted by trainers who have achieved ITIL® Service Manager status, the highest certification in the sector.
The course includes modules in Service Support and Service Delivery such as Configuration, Incident, Problem and Change Management. Delegates receive a free French language itSMF pocket book as well as course documentation.
The new French itSMF association, which is due to hold its first conference in Paris on 4 December, has been set up partly to help make best use of ITIL® which Ronez said was “becoming an increasingly important force in the French IT industry.”
